The underlying architecture of the application was designed to ensure the flexibility, functionality and efficiency, but also provide an optimal level of security that ensures the integrity of client’s important data.  The system utilizes a four tier architecture that includes multiple zones that provide for logical and physical separation of the different application layers.  This ensures that if one layer of the system is compromised, the entire system will not be breached.  This structure allows user data and application logic to be placed in the most secure zone behind multiple firewalls.  The trusted application layers restrict access to only other LiveCargo components that are part of the overall infrastructure. 

Transmission of data is secured using numerous techniques to ensure no security compromise of the data in its transfer from client machines and finally through its storage.  Communication is secured using industry standards of SSL to establish a secure, encrypted, and trusted connection between transmission points.  Additionally, the actual data is compressed and encrypted using either triple DES or AES encryption standards.  In fact, we also allow companies to plug in their specific security modules that provide additional levels of security if required.  Data may be further encrypted by the use of client security phrases that provide an additional security layer.  The data may only be decrypted by those with the access to that client's security phrases.  This ensured that only the intended recipient may decode the message that was sent. 

The LiveCargo infrastructure provides protection against malicious software (hacks, viruses, breach attempts) at the enterprise level through automatic, continuous system and network monitoring with built-in response mechanisms.  Logging is additionally performed at the web server level that provides appropriate alerts to any possible system breaches.  In addition to these individual system controls, our application and data warehouses reside in global, world-class data centers that adhere to key industry and governmental standards.  These data centers ensure the maximum physical security for these environments.
